University Librarian

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Quality Assurance and Compliance, the incumbent will perform the following duties:

Key Responsibilities.

  • Foster a culture of service in support of PIU students, faculty and staff.
  • Forward internal collaboration by inspiring and nurturing cross-disciplinary collaboration across the Univeristy.
  • Forward external collaboration by serving as an ambassador and advocate for the library, developing partnerships with other academic research libraries, within the national and regional library associations.
  • Collaborate with the University leadership and department chairs to prioritize and focus future library developments.
  • Work closely with the finance department in monitoring Library finances allocated in the budget, making sound fiscal decisions to the benefit of the Library
  • Be involved in campus scholarly life, forming relationships with students, staff, and faculty across the undergraduate and professional schools.
  • Develop and manage collections of books and journals (both paper and electronic), as well as websites.
  • Select, acquire and catalogue information using library and information software
  • Create, update and manage electronic and printed information resources
  • Coordinate and deliver information and digital literacy sessions to students, researchers and staff
  • Liaise with academic departments to contribute to academic course development
  • Assist researchers with literature searches using databases, printed resources and the internet search engines
  • Manage and support the provision of reading lists and allocate length of loans
  • Take on responsibility, in some cases, for archives and other special collections
  • Support user enquiries, which may involve one-on-one advice sessions
  • Manage budgets in relation to your allocated subject areas/departments and, in some cases, purchase resources
  • Keep up to date with developments in the library sector and participate in professional groups or networks.
  • To perform any other duties consistent with your role.

Educational and Experience

  • First level degree in course relevant subject is mandatory
  • A Master’s degree in related course relevant is mandatory
  • A PhD is desired
  • Experience working in a similar role for a minimum of 3 years
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications, especially MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.
  • Must be technology Savvy

Internal Auditor

The incumbent will be under the direct supervision of the Office of the Vice Chancellor, he/she will perform the following duties:

Key Responsibilities.

  • Assist University management in achieving their oversight, operating and management responsibilities through independent reviews and advisory services designed to evaluate and promote the system of internal controls established by management.
  • Update and inform the Vice Chancellor of any new and/or potential audit issues.
  • Assess internal controls and promote and adequate, effective system of internal controls at the University.
  • Recommend improvements to the University’s internal control environment in order to safeguard university resources, promote university growth, and ensure compliance with government laws and regulations.
  • Develop and execute the annual University-wide internal audit plan to include the planning and performance of compliance, financial, operational, internal control, consulting, and investigative audits, and/or special projects at the University
  • Develop audit programs and establish appropriate audit objectives through risk assessment, and inquiry from management of its needs.
  • Plan and execute assurance services for University departments, and divisions for compliance with established policies and procedures; adherence to regulations and laws, and University policies and procedures; and the adequacy of internal controls.
  • Plan and execute follow-up audits of internal and external reports at the appropriate intervals.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate investigative audits for University departments, and divisions for non-compliance with and/or violations of University policies and procedures, and other regulations.
  • Write audit reports upon completion of assurance services, follow-up audits, and investigative audits, including a description of audit results and recommendations for corrective action.
  • Write narratives upon completion of consulting services, including the results of agreed upon procedures.
  • Maintain sufficient audit evidence to support the content of written audit reports and/or narratives.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of the Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing, University policies and procedures, emerging audit issues, and other relevant information regarding the University through training seminars and professional literature.
  • Establish and maintain policies and procedures for the University’s internal audit activity.
  • Provide information to the Vice Chancellor, the Audit Risk and Compliance Committee of the Univeristy Governing Council and External Auditor as requested.
  • Perform other duties assigned.

  • Experience working in a similar role for a minimum of 2 years
  • Strong knowledge of computer applications, especially MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Access.

MOS/MTA Instructor

The incumbent will be under the direct supervision of Head of Department ICT, he/she will perform the following duties:

Key Responsibilities.

  • The incumbent will be training Microsoft Office Word, Excel and PowerPoint from essential to expert stage
  • Prepare and guide students in sitting Microsoft Certification Exams
  • Teach Microsoft Technical Associate certifications in database, networking, programming, security and the other tracks of MTA
  • Maintenance on existing software products, assists in developing code, tests and debugging new application or making enhancements to existing application, writing programs according to specifications from senior staff and performs basic system integration tasks.
  • In liaison relevant heads, coordinate design, implementation, verification, and deployment of custom application meant to manage administration process through developing workflows, validation rules, approval process, assignment rules, reports, dashboards, and process to continuously monitor data quality and integrity;
  • Configure, optimize, convert, and/or support existing databases.
  • Assist in application customization via custom objects, workflows, visual flows, page layouts and custom fields. Interface with end users to understand administrative needs and resolve support issues.
  • Coordinate requirement analysis for in-house projects as well as those outsourced to a consulting partner.
  • Analyze and define the importing and exporting of data to and from disparate systems troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, resolve bugs and errors, and implement optimal solutions to resolve issues at the source;
  • Supervise system documentation for database applications, its integrations, and ongoing enhancements / updates
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of user manuals and guidelines where applicable;
  • Train end users on custom applications.
  • Any other duties as assigned.
